A place to suspend time, reconnect with the essential, let the shapes speak

Description of the area and neighborhood : Located in the heart of a green valley of the Aude, between wooded hills and winding rivers, Chalabre offers a peaceful and inspiring setting, conducive to creation. It is in this natural setting, full of history and fertile silence, that the Ateliers Lalande are established, a place of artistic residence where time stands still to give way to experimentation, encounters and the emergence of new forms.
Facilities (wifi, phone..) : • An equipped kitchen: functional and user-friendly, with oven, hob, refrigerator, freely accessible crockery - for cooking with others or enjoying some tea. • A bathroom: simple and neat, with shower, toilet, towels and basic products available. • Bright rooms: comfortable beds, storage, bed linen provided — each space retains its identity, between sobriety and traces of passage by previous artists. • A living space: modular living room with library, work table, armchairs for quiet time or end-of-day discussions. • Internet connection: Wi-Fi available for digital needs, without invading creative disconnection. • Workshop or creative space: depending on the disciplines, a raw or equipped space (work table, easel, light tools, free floor, white walls or surfaces to invest). • Exterior: garden, courtyard or terrace, often shared with living things – trees, silence, birds, earth – as so many extensions of interior work.

A place to experiment, search, get lost a little, start again. A time for yourself, but also to think together, with nature around, fertile silence, and hospitality as a starting point. ⸻ What artists can offer in return In exchange for the residency, we invite each artist to imagine a gesture of sharing, in their own way, according to their practice and their desire of the moment. It is not a question of producing at all costs, but of leaving a living trace, a link, a resonance. This can be, for example: • The creation of a work left in situ, ephemeral or durable. • A performance, a concert, a reading, open to a few guests or to the inhabitants of the village. • An exhibition at the end of the residency, formal or improvised. • The organization of a shared dinner, where we talk as much as we taste. • A guided walk, a screening, a round table, a collective moment, as simple as it is essential. • Or simply, a notebook, a note, an imprint left in the place.     In a master’s house with its 4-hectare park, on the edge of Livradois and just 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne) —or only a few minutes from Vertaizon train station—come and flourish in a setting ideal for meditation and creation.

    The main materials available include wood, leaves, grass, hay (seasonal), soil (ready to dig!), stones, and occasionally various discarded items. The garden and park are perfect for sculptural creations. A well-equipped workshop allows for cutting, sawing, gluing, and welding. Barns (unheated) provide space for your work. A guest room or bed and breakfast accommodation will be available, depending on availability.

I create jewelry and I make paintings...solar and bear, I am attentive and respectful of everyone's needs for solitude or sharing 😉 Rivers, sea and wild nature are not far away.
