Artist: Oil Painter, Speaker and more – Visual arts

Hello,
I’m Tricia Ratliff ( www.TriciaRatliff.com ) . I am a professional Artist .. an oil painter who captures the mood of the places I visit. I leave an original work of art for the people who host me. I love to travel and am also available to give an “artist’s talk” in your home or community. I teach both drawing and painting lessons professionally. In addition to oil painting, I’m also passionate about fostering innovation for public good so please ask me about the facilitation work I enjoy doing as a form of art.

Propositions artistiques en échange de la résidence (oeuvres, cours, ateliers, dîner, concert...) : Work of art: When I travel, I typically gift my hosts one of the beautiful oil paintings that I make while I'm there. If you prefer an event: I'm also experienced in giving artist talks ( public speaking with question and answer sessions or poetry ) and facilitating collaborative innovation game activities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDmzbMyBKos (Innovation as a Collaborative Game trademark) I'm also available for travel workshops
Description environment are you looking for ( nature, urban, other…) : I'm open to many kinds of environments and would be happy to talk and explore options together. I'm most comfortable in nature so I often paint around water, boats, streams or up high where I can see vistas and long distances. I also like history, local community, architecture and capturing cultural meaning if the location is more urban or in a small town. Because I often paint at sunrise and sunset, it helps if there are some interesting sites within walking distance of the place I will be staying so that I can have time to set up my equipment before the glorious colors. My husband is a published writer and documentary producer. So, I can travel solo if you have limited space but also enjoy bringing him so that our hosts are supporting many forms of art. We are a happy couple. He has a warm and wonderful sense of humor with great stories to share. I typically stay with hosts for about 3.5 weeks because that gives me enough time to understand the surroundings get into the flow and make multiple works of art in multiple locations. I have stayed as short as 2 weeks with some hosts. Other hosts have provided a casita or guest house where I stayed for 2 months and used the time to create a grand ( huge ) work of art for them while I travelled around the region. I have hosted many artists! So, I am quite flexible and understand what hosts need.
Describe your projects for a residence : If you are open to a truly creative and impactful residency project, I would like to do more than paint and leave a painting. I'd like to stay in an interesting town or location for multiple months to have a positive impact by offering my collaborative facilitation games, art jam gatherings, workshops and activities for local economic development. Let's talk and ideate on what makes sense for your local area.

Description of the type of workspace needed (office, studio, rehearsal space…) : For oil painting: An internal studio space with easel is very helpful. In the absence of a space, I simply need time and access to beautiful outdoor spaces where I can easily hike with my plein air painting equipment to create outdoors. For community & interactive experiences: If you'd rather have me present, do an artist talk or my facilitated experiences, I would need photos and info about a space in advance so that we/I can plan and customize for the people, purpose and space.
