Situé au cœur d’un parc naturel, le Château de l’Isle Marie est un site unique et chargé d’histoire. Les premiers à occuper le site sont les romains. Les Vikings ont suivi en construisant une forteresse dominant les environs. Les fondations du Château actuel remontent au 12ème siècle et d’autres bâtiments seront ajoutés au 16ème et 17ème siècle dont le chapelle dessinée par Mansart.
La propriété est dans la famille depuis le 12ème siècle. Après une période assez active où de nombreux projets ont été lancés un peu partout dans la région, le château s’est endormi et a subit les dégâts dus aux bombardements de la seconde guerre mondiale.
Aujourd’hui nous essayons de faire reprendre vie à ce site unique qui devient une île durant la période hivernale.

Located in a Natural Regional Park, Château de l’Isle Marie is a unique location steeped in history. First occupants were the Romans. Later the Vikings came and built a fortress. The foundations of the current castle goes back to the 12th century and other building 16th and 17th century including the Chapel designed by famous architect Mansart.
The property is within our family since 12th century and after a very active life, the property has been put aside and damaged by the bombing of the second world war.
Today we are trying to bring back the property to life, a place that becomes an island in winter when marshes are flooded.

Description of the area and neighborhood : La propriété se situe à 5km de Sainte-Mère-Eglise, et à 15 min des plages du débarquement. Mais c'est de l'autre coté de la péninsule que vous trouverez des paysages de bord de mer magnifiques avec de belles falaises et des plages immenses.The property is 5 min away from Sainte-Mère-Eglise and only 15 min from D-Day beaches. However it is on the other side of the peninsula that you will find breathtaking seasides with beautiful cliffs and immense sand beaches.

    In a master’s house with its 4-hectare park, on the edge of Livradois and just 20 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne) —or only a few minutes from Vertaizon train station—come and flourish in a setting ideal for meditation and creation.

    The main materials available include wood, leaves, grass, hay (seasonal), soil (ready to dig!), stones, and occasionally various discarded items. The garden and park are perfect for sculptural creations. A well-equipped workshop allows for cutting, sawing, gluing, and welding. Barns (unheated) provide space for your work. A guest room or bed and breakfast accommodation will be available, depending on availability.
