Painter – Arts plastiques

Hello,
I am a painter looking for a host in Spain or southern France. Here is my website: TriciaRatliff.com – I love to paint nature and light through trees or hitting buildings. I’ll be in Spain with a friend in May 2027 and would love to stay with a residency host and gift you one of my paintings before flying back to the united states. I will have a car. In addition to painting, hiking and sharing meaningful stories, I also enjoy singing campfire songs in english that make people smile.

: A beautiful painting made during travels of Spain. I have stayed with many art hosts (residencies) and give every host an original painting / work of art.
Description du lieu recherché (nature, urbain, autre) : Vistas .. views from high points are always inspiring. Morning or evening light through trees. Winding streams, misty or foggy views and old architecture are all interesting to me. I paint in many styles to connect with the meaning of the place. Historic towns or coastal areas with light hitting buildings in the early morning or late in the day are also a joy to paint. If you send photos, I will be able to tell you what kind of painting I might see there.
Quels sont vos projets de résidence ? : I love to paint and connect with the community or family - to understand the history and meaning of each place. I typically get up early to catch the sun during walks or a drive to a special painting spot. Then I sketch and am happy to share my sketch book progress with hosts, their friends or the community. I am also comfortable painting live in front of people and answering questions. Some hosts set me up to paint in the living room so they can see the "studio" painting emerge. Like many artists .. a lot of time is spent looking, listening and learning - then working on the same subject in multiple ways. So, sometimes I paint a whole painting in one evening (after many sketches) and other times I may take days to capture the ideas. Choosing from paintings created in the prior weeks is also an option. The project depends on the length of the residency. At once residency, I stayed for 3 weeks and painted almost a dozen small study paintings then gave two large paintings as a gift to the hosts. They brought their community and friends to see a 'show' of all of the paintings. In another home, I stayed only 4 days and gave a lovely little plein air color study that they felt captured the feeling of the place. We can work out the details together.

: I paint small studies en plein air (outside) and then work more significant pieces inside. I stand when I paint and can be quite clean/careful. If you can accommodate indoor painting, I simply need about 3-4 feet by 8 or 10 feet to set up a tarp and my travel easel. Often people put me in a small area of the largest main gathering space of the house (sometimes we move a table slightly or a chair out of the way near a window. If you send photos, I can help figure out which space works. Other times, if the weather is mild, I have painted on screened in porches or on a veranda. I will have all of my paints and canvas with me so quiet space with light is what's needed. If you are able to provide a larger open space, I will sometimes dance around while painting .. simply because I enjoy it.

I am a self-taught artist, and my work unfolds in a vibrant and colorful universe, between painting and sculpture, where forms and patterns outlined in black draw their energy from intuition and instinct.

My artistic world is inspired by Fauvism, the folk arts of Latin America and India, tribal arts, and Art Brut for its freedom and expressive power. I create female figures and hybrid creatures, accompanied by decorative and symbolic motifs, giving rise to almost totemic forms that are recognizable at first glance.
