Artist, Musician, and Psychotherapist bringing creativity and healing together

Elise Goldstein is an American-born researcher in the field of Intra-Personal Communication – the study of how inner-dialogue shapes the creation of self, identity, and perception. This research has led her through a variety of disciplines, from shamanism to psychoanalysis, from auto-ethnography to performance art. She has a background in printmaking, painting, sculpture, book-arts, and photography. Elise was awarded her Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institution of Chicago in 2010 and a Post-Graduate Research certificate from the Royal Institute of Cinema, Theatre & Sound (Brussels) in 2012. Since then, she has been working mainly as a creative arts therapist.

Propositions artistiques en échange de la résidence (oeuvres, cours, ateliers, dîner, concert...) : I am very happy to offer a work of art (either site-specific installation or wall-hanging). I prefer to think of the process as collaborative and would prefer to know the wishes for the location, dimension, even potentially palette, media or thematic. The work would be informed by the host and the hosts' environment/atmosphere.
Description du lieu recherché (nature, urbain, autre) : Open. Preferably in France.
Quels sont vos projets de résidence ? : I am working on developing a project which includes focusing on collecting wisdom (through interviews) with people who have received terminal medical diagnoses (people in the process of dying). The wisdom from these interviews is translated in painted textual documents. I need time to develop the methodology further. It is quiet, but beautifully contemplative work, to be accompanied by drawings and painting of images to support.

    J’ai parcouru près de 15 000 kilomètres de l’Arctique à la Méditerranée, avec pour toute mission : collecter des informations sur les alternatives économiques et la responsabilité sociale, ce, du point de vue des individus et des entreprises. Un projet à la croisée du journalisme et de l’art, financé par mes soins et qui a duré quatre ans. Le résultat : cinquante interviews, une quantité importante d’informations, de films et de photos. Autant d’instantanés d’un monde en changement. Ces informations doivent être mises en forme et post-produites afin d’être publiées. La pandémie et ses restrictions diverses ont sérieusement remis en question la faisabilité de ce projet, tant du point de vue financier que logistique. C’est la raison pour laquelle, de façon symbolique, je souhaite mettre un point final - là où finit la terre 😉 à un projet et à un voyage au très long cours. Je recherche donc une résidence pour une durée de trois mois dans le Finistère afin de finaliser la production des histoires collectées au cours de mes voyages.

Practico el oficio de las arpilleras y el bordado activista por la posibilidad que me da de narrar historias con la ternura de unas puntadas sencillas. El bordado es un oficio que ha permitido expresarme sobre diversos temas; contingencia, feminismo, activismo, etc., y he descubierto su potencial como herramienta artística para la ilustración textil y el fotobordado.

    Bonjour, je serai ravie de vous rencontrer et de découvrir votre espace de vie qui me permettrait de faire émerger les créations que j'ai dans la tête. D'abord professionnelle dans le milieu social puis culturel, je pratique les arts plastiques mais aussi l'écriture théâtrale, la musique, la poterie,les balades sensibles... et j'aimerais crée un projet qui relie tout au et me relie aussi à la nature. Je suis une personne plutôt sensible, ouverte aux autres et qui m'intéresse à ce et ceux qui m'entourent et j'aime aussi être autonome et la solitude de la création.
