Writer seeking residency – Writing
- Location: Roubaix, France
I will soon be fifty-five, I have been writing for a few months. A rather short first novel, finished or almost, which still requires one or two rereadings. Another, much longer, that I’m starting – between research on the premises and first draft.
I have always read, a lot. Some characters have always been with me. There are often brothers and sisters: Franny and Zooey at Salinger, Ada and Van Veen at Nabokov, Franny and John at Irving. There are lost men, grandiose women (almost all of them!), adults who are still children or children who do not yet know what awaits them.
I started writing rather late, but I now write every day and today I would have a hard time doing without it. Iowa Bob, the weightlifting grandfather in The New Hampshire Hotel by John Irving, gives his secret: “You’ve got to get obsessed and stay obsessed”. I thought writing was a matter of talent (which I didn’t have) and discipline; Perhaps, in reality, it’s just a matter of really wanting it – to the point of obsession.

For A Seaside Novel – Writing
Writing - Toulouse (France) - 29/01/2026I have been working on writing a novel for several months. It will be a book combining passages written in prose and illustrated passages, with parts of the narrative carried by drawings over several pages. So far, I have mainly done research in many directions. I am now looking, including in February and March, for a place where I can write the first draft of this story about a seaside village in good conditions.

Poet Seeking Writing Residency – Writing
Writing - Saint-Gilles (Belgium) - 01/08/2025I am Siméon MB, I am a poet and I am looking for a writing space to begin a first collection of poetry, “Chant à quatre voix (provisional title)”. I'm looking for a calm place where I can start structuring things, putting my texts together, and putting them into shape. A place that I could live in for a while, around which I can get some fresh air at times. And perhaps also have an outside perspective. In exchange for the residency, I offer a collection of poems in the form of a fanzine, a reading or a sound piece.
