Iida’s style of making art branches out in many ways: she draws, paints, photographs and writes poetry
combining all these elements. The past few years she has concentrated on working more with inks.
But if she is not having fun with pens and brushes, her hands might be shaping something else like
a warm-hearted forest fellow Naava (Usnea) or even building an own love ladder for a creature
called The Universe. Time after time she has ended up exploring happiness or the delicate forms of
existence itself. Precious stories can be found all around, no matter where you are or in which company.
Thinking about art and life in general: creativity flows without force, behind every corner
lies the possibility of something that can make your day.
Iida grew up in Kaskinen, which is not only the smallest town in Finland, but also an island.
She has BA degree in photography. She graduated from Arts Academy at Turku University of
Applied Sciences in 2008. Her artworks have been exhibited in Finland and abroad (for example in The Headquarters of United Nations, NYC/USA). Her works belong to private and public collections such as Albertina Museum in Vienna, Austria. Some of her poems have been published in Italian and English,
but she writes them mainly in Finnish. She has illustrated newspaper articles and magazine, book and album covers.

Photographer And Writer Looking For ResidencyVisual arts - Lyon (France) - 11/04/2024Salt in eyelashes is a photography and video project about insular teenagers identity and development in Greece. Where bodies reveal and affirm themselves and how they bind to each other in an open space by the sea. It goes along with my other photography projects, mainly “The Lobster Complex” in which I immersed myself in Brussels teenagers sphere. Thereafter, my “Bank” series portraited the skate culture in Luxembourg. More recently, in Formentera, I produced a series of photographs revealing my personal bond with the isle. Since my childhood, I traveled through Greece and its islands, under my parents impluse, who transmitted a piece of insularity through this inimate experience. The islands have sharpened my vision, my education, my way of approaching things and the livings. For me, they are like a second home, a second skin. Today, with Salt in eyelashes, I would like to pursue my teenager world quest with young people who grew up on those Greek islands and tell more about those islands through their bodies, their look and their fragility. My goal is to highlight the voices, the feelings, the stories of those people living or who have lived on an island. Through their testimony, I intend to dig, to feed and exchange knowledge around the subject of adolescence. The final result will be presented as a photography series and research notebooks but also as a video documentary and a paper edition.

Recherche Résidence Pour L’automne 2024 Ou été 2025Visual arts - Montréal (Canada) - 31/01/2024Bonjour, je me présente Karine, je suis de Montréal, du Québec, province francophone au Canada. Je suis artiste multidisciplinaire. Je suis en quête d'un endroit à l'international où travailler sur une série de peintures et dessins. J'aime beaucoup marcher pendant de longues heures, cueillir des fleurs et en faire des bouquets/ arrangements créatifs. Cela pourrait peut-être intéresser les hôtes qui offre un gîte aux touristes, ou amateurs de fleurs? : )
