Visual Architecture Of Memory – Arts Visuels
- Dallas (États-Unis) - 09/09/2026Pattern as structure. Light as material. Transformation as form. Perhaps what happens when the artist who normally imposes transformation begins allowing a place to tell him how transformation occurs? What survives transformation? What will be the contemporary relics of today with 3D printing, AI and algorithmic influenced taste? Who decides that one material is precious and another is kitsch? Why can the same visual vocabulary—crystal, ornament, shine, excess—signify cheapness in one context and extraordinary luxury or sacredness in another? What happens when enormous amounts of skilled hand labor are concealed behind a surface that the viewer initially experiences simply as spectacle? I want to look more closely at the politics embedded in judgments of ornament, labor and value: why some forms of material excess are read as luxury, others as kitsch, and how context determines which kinds of labor become visible. Questions already central to my practice: how objects acquire value, how repeated labor becomes visible through surface, and how material carries the history of the conditions in which it was formed. My practice does not treat radiance as a surface effect alone. It examines how repeated labor changes an object’s authority. I transform familiar objects through thousands of individually placed reflective elements. The labor changes more than their surfaces: it changes how viewers assign authority, value, and significance to them. By transforming familiar archetypes—from classical figures to mythic icons—into light-refracting physical statements, I examine how society projects and consumes value. My work challenges the ephemeral nature of modern visual culture by demanding slow, tactile engagement. A crystal reflects the light that reaches it. My practice does not treat radiance as a surface effect alone. It examines how repeated labor changes an object’s authority. My sculptures are created through the patient placement of thousands of reflective elements, yet the finished surface can appear immediate and effortless.The process is repetitive, physical, patterned for cognitive and somatic interruption to provide a true moment of yourself reflected back to you with resonance.

Avec le regard en tant que photographe, avec le posca, le stylo et la bouche en tant que slameuse, avec le corps et l’espace en tant que danseuse. Mes textes et mes mouvements viennent du cœur, de l’intime, ils jaillissent comme un combat vers la liberté et transportent des émotions profondes de l’intérieur vers le monde. L’expression me permet d’être en lien. Kabutar – Urbain
Urbain - Karachi (Pakistan) - 01/10/2026Kabutar in Urdu is translated as pigeon or dove which is a universal symbol of love, peace and freedom. Civilizations in ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece, and South Asia used messenger pigeons over 3,000 years ago. In India before partition, pigeons were trained to deliver letters to lover and as messengers. Our current state of the world is suffering from wars and genocides. Many countries are surviving the ordeal of wars at present and many have survived wars in the past. Every country has an inimitable visual culture which serves as a universal language for identity, resilience and hope for their nation. Kabutar is an initiative to collaborate with artists from different countries with Pakistan who carry a message of peace and harmony in art forms. For the exhibition in 2019, artists have created work under certain specification to manage the logistics. Each work carries a message of harmony and tranquility to influence political impact in a peaceful language of visual arts. At present, Kabutar has been evolved as an artist residency to collaborate and produce work with Pakistani artist and host of the residency. Artist will be living and producing work at the studio which are located in her apartment. This apartment has hosted various foreign travelers during last few years hence it fulfills the necessary requirements. Visits to local galleries, jamming sessions by musicians and theatre events can be organized for the visiting artist. About Mehreen Hashmi Mehreen Hashmi is a Karachi-based visual artist and curator with a Fine Arts degree from the Indus Valley School. She has curated exhibitions, including the Karachi Art Summit, and has exhibited her work globally in the last 17 years. She has received multiple honors and actively promotes cultural exchange and public art projects in Pakistan and Europe. www.mehreenhashmi.com Residency fee 300 USD is to cover the accomadation, and living cost. In case of an event, extra funds will be required depending on the chosen venue. Its a self-hosted artist residency hence we do not have any funds. An invitation letter can be provided in case of applying for grants.

Artiste Plasticienne- Recherche Lieu De Résidence Et De Création – Arts Plastiques- DOMPNAC (France) - 09/10/2026Je suis Loïs Labonté, artiste plasticienne et facilitatrice, installée en Ardèche. Ma démarche artistique se nourrit de mes voyages au Japon, où j'étudie la peinture à l'encre (sumi-e) et la calligraphie japonaise (shodō). J'explore également la photographie, le papier et différentes formes de création sensible. Je souhaite aujourd'hui donner davantage d'espace à ma pratique artistique, expérimenter de nouveaux formats et approfondir le dialogue entre le geste, le corps, la matière et le mouvement. Je recherche un lieu lumineux et inspirant, propice à la création, où je pourrais séjourner quelques semaines ou quelques mois. J'apprécie autant les temps de solitude nécessaires à mon travail que les échanges spontanés avec d'autres artistes, dans un esprit d'ouverture, de curiosité et de partage.
